Alignment and In the Figure of Divine Substance

Also showing at Lightforms from August 20 through September 27 is the dual show “Alignment and In the Figure of Divine Substance” featuring  paintings by Laura Summer and Ntangou Badila. Featured in this collective exhibit are pieces by Congolese Brooklyn artist Badila from “Pop Culture,” a rendition of indigenous tribes throughout regions of Africa in futuristic, vibrant colors boldly showcasing sacred women in a contemporary fashion; as well as “ALIGNMENT,” pieces abstracting anatomy, relinquishing the boundaries on ideal body image. Summer’s work “In the Figure of Divine Substance” arises from her work with the poetry of female mystic poets throughout time, which she has translated into evocative paintings. These latter paintings will be freely dispersed to those interested September 26-27.
