About Fire in the Temple
Rudolf Steiner, one of the most influential spiritual teachers of the 20th century, joins with the archangel Michael to confront mysterious demons in 1920s Europe. Crafted from actual events and discourse, Fire in the Temple dramatizes the last days of Rudolf Steiner's life, beginning with the destruction by fire of the original Goetheanum building on New Year's Eve, 1922. Proceeding through the almost unfathomable exertions of creativity that followed before Steiner's death in 1925, the play brings to the stage people who surrounded him in these final moments, including his wife, Marie Steiner von Sivers, and his physician, Dr. Ita Wegman. Their personal conflicts, hopes, and sorrows are sensitively portrayed in this rigorously researched drama.
